U.S. Senators Todd Young and Steve Daines, along with Representative Adrian Smith, have sent a letter to key members of the Trump administration. The letter praises ongoing trade negotiations aimed at supporting American producers and manufacturers.

The correspondence was addressed to U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer, Secretary of Treasury Scott Bessent, Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins, and Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick. It commends the administration for pausing certain reciprocal tariffs to foster meaningful agreements for U.S. agricultural producers, energy producers, and manufacturers.

"We write to you to express our strong support for ongoing trade negotiations to level the playing field for American producers and manufacturers," states the letter. "President Trump’s decision to pause the implementation of certain reciprocal tariffs creates momentum to secure meaningful and enforceable agreements."

The senators highlighted pressing trade issues such as digital services taxes, import quotas, and tariff reduction that require immediate attention. They expressed confidence in utilizing a 90-day pause in tariff implementations for beneficial agreements across various industries.

The letter emphasized the importance of international trade for U.S. agriculture and manufacturing sectors. "International trade is fundamental to the continued success and vitality of U.S. industry," it notes, pointing out that significant portions of commodities like soybeans and pork products are exported overseas.

In contrast with previous administrations' approaches, they credited President Trump's first term with achieving historic wins through agreements like USMCA and deals with China and Japan.

Senators Deb Fischer, Pete Ricketts, Chuck Grassley, Ted Budd, Thom Tillis, Tim Sheehy, Jim Risch, John Kennedy, Joni Ernst, Roger Wicker also signed the letter alongside 44 lawmakers from the House.

The full text reiterates their support: "We applaud the President for seeking to renew American leadership in global trade."
