The U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation has advanced the Global Investment in American Jobs Act. The bill is led by Senators Todd Young (R-Ind.) and Gary Peters (D-Mich.) and aims to boost America's global competitiveness by making the country a more attractive destination for international investment.
Senator Young stated, "An important component of maintaining American leadership in the research, development, and deployment of emerging technologies like artificial intelligence, biotechnologies, and quantum computing involves removing barriers that inhibit foreign direct investment from trusted countries into the United States. I’m glad to see this important legislation advance out of the Commerce Committee, and it is now time to bring this bill to the Senate floor."
Foreign direct investment has historically contributed to the U.S. economy by creating jobs, supporting domestic research and development, and increasing exports of American-made goods. The bill directs the Secretary of Commerce to conduct a comprehensive review across government agencies on how to enhance America’s ability to attract foreign direct investment. The findings of this review will be reported to Congress.
The committee also moved forward with the ROTOR Act and PIPELINE Safety Act of 2025, both of which Senator Young has cosponsored.
