Today, Representative Victoria Spartz issued a statement regarding her forthcoming vote for the Speaker of the House on January 3, 2025. Spartz expressed concerns about Congress's oversight of taxpayer money and called for decisive leadership to prevent fiscal disaster.
"Congress has abandoned its constitutional duty to the American people to properly oversee the spending of their hard-earned money paid as taxes," said Spartz. She emphasized that the next speaker must demonstrate bold leadership to steer the country away from potential economic calamity.
Spartz highlighted several priorities for the new speaker, including establishing temporary structures in the House for authorizations, reconciliation offset policies, and spending audits. She advocated for engaging "competent, unbiased 'non-swamp' professionals" to help address what she described as a serious fiscal situation.
According to Spartz, existing structures have failed due to their inherent incentives and will not improve without change. She urged for a clear plan aligned with former President Trump's agenda, noting dissatisfaction with current leadership's efforts.
"The fate of our Republic is at stake," she stated, calling on Congress to fulfill its constitutional duties rather than compromising future generations' welfare.
