Hunter Smith, the Republican nominee for District 24 of the Indiana State House, is running for election to his first two-year term. The election will be held on November 5.

In an interview with WIBC, Smith stressed the importance of being willing to listen to voices on both sides of the political aisle and emphasized that "I am running to represent people whether they vote for me or not. Those people deserve representation. I want to hear what they have to say.” Smith also discussed his reasons for getting into the race as a political outsider. Smith stated he did not want to be a professional politician, but wanted to serve his community. 

Smith considers himself to be a pro-school choice conservative according to an interview with the Indiana Captial Chronicle. Smith is in favor of maintaining lower taxes, and as a pro-life conservative, he is in favor of promoting adoptions. 

According to the Hamilton County Reporter, Smith is pro-Second Amendment, supports law enforcement and first responders, and "favors local government and municipalities having power they need to protect taxpayers."

Smith graduated from the University of Notre Dame and went on to play for the Indianapolis Colts as a punter from 1999 to 2008. He and his wife Jen have four children and own and operate WonderTree Regenerative Farm in Zionsville.

Smith is running against Democrat Josh Lowry. The seat is currently held by Republican Donna Schaibley who is retiring after representing the district since 2014.
