Washington, D.C. – Today, Rep. Victoria Spartz (IN-05) revealed the launch of the 2024 Congressional Art Competition. Originating in 1982 by the U.S. House of Representatives, this annual event showcases the artistic talents of high school students nationwide.

“Indiana's Fifth District is filled with many young, talented artists, and I'm looking forward to seeing all the creative submissions in this year's Congressional Art Competition,” expressed Rep. Spartz. She emphasized the significance of art in education, stating, "Art is an important part of a well-rounded education, so I strongly encourage interested high school students to participate in this competition.”

The first-place winner of the competition will have their artwork exhibited in the Cannon Tunnel of the U.S. Capitol, alongside other winning pieces from across the country, for a duration of one year. In a notable mention from the previous year, Maya Bhagwat, a junior at Carmel High School in Hamilton County, claimed first place in the 2023 competition with her piece titled, “Indian-American Oil on Canvas”.
