Senator Todd Young, representing Indiana in the U.S. Senate, posted a series of statements on his social media account between October 1 and October 2, 2025. His comments addressed ongoing government operations, community observances, and higher education policy.

On October 1, Senator Young called for action regarding the federal government shutdown. He stated, "Senate Democrats should vote to reopen the government." The post came amid a period when parts of the federal government were closed due to a lapse in appropriations.

Later that day, Senator Young extended greetings to Indiana's Jewish population during an important religious holiday. On October 1 he wrote, "I wish our Hoosier Jewish community a peaceful and meaningful Yom Kippur."

The following day, Young commented on college admissions policies. On October 2 he said, "Secretary McMahon deserves credit for working to disincentivize the use of race or sex in college admissions. We must go further – federally accredited institutions should eliminate ALL preferences grounded in ancestry, such as legacy status, or other factors unrelated to merit." This statement reflects ongoing national debates about fairness and criteria used by colleges during their admissions processes.

Senator Todd Young has served as Indiana’s junior senator since 2017 and is known for his positions on education reform and fiscal responsibility.
