Lis Mcdonnell Joins Ivy Tech Muncie-Henry County Campus Board Of Trustees
Lis McDonnell’s first Campus Board of Trustees meeting will be April 18th at 8 a.m. at the John and Janice Fisher Building in Muncie, IN. She joins the Campus Board after a request by former board member, Eugene Whitehead.
McDonnell represents the agricultural community for Delaware and Henry Counties, emphasizing the need for rural students gaining additional education to keep family farms productive into the future. Her focus is on providing rural students the opportunity to continue their education locally while continuing to live and work on the family farm.
“The agricultural communities in Delaware and Henry Counties are part of a flourishing agricultural ecosystem within the state. These communities need secondary education to keep their family farming business relevant in the coming decades. A business management degree can be a strong path for these students and many others like them. It’ll help keep the farm in the family,” McDonnell said.
McDonnell lives in New Castle on the family farm with husband Bill. They originally raised beef cattle but now focus on grain crops including corn and soybeans. When she is not helping on the farm, McDonnell works as a Clinical Informatics Coordinator for Henry Community Health Hospital’s IT Department. She enjoys donating her time to organizations she is passionate about and currently serves on the New Castle/Henry County Animal Shelter Board, the Henry County Heart Society Board as secretary, and is the National Archivist for the Ridgeback Rescue of the United States (RRUS) organization. She is actively involved in Indiana Farm Bureau, Inc. serving as the District 6 Treasurer and Henry County Farm Bureau President.
Chancellor Jeffrey D. Scott said, “We are excited to have Lis join the Campus Board of Trustees. We believe it very valuable for us to have an additional Henry County presence and viewpoint. Her knowledge, experience and passion for education and community will help provide insightful guidance as we build strategies to achieve our mission and purpose.”
