Wabash Ties For First At Music City Shootout

The Wabash College golf team tied for first place at the 2023 Music City Shootout played at the Nashville National Golf Links in Nashville, Tennessee, Saturday and Sunday. Little Giant junior Brayden Weiss earned medalist honors after shooting even par in Sunday's final round. Teammate Tim Neu earned a place on the All-Tournament Team by tying for fifth place.

 

Wabash and Olivet Nazarene University finished with identical scores of 592 after 36 holes of golf. ONU claimed the Shootout championship trophy by winning the scorecard playoff by two strokes over the Little Giants. The two teams finished four strokes ahead of third-place finisher Franklin College with a total of 596 strokes.

 

Wabash shot identical rounds of 296 on each day of the tournament. The Little Giants were the only team to score below 300 strokes in each round.

 

Weiss won the individual tournament title, cementing his championship with an even-par round of 70 on Sunday after scoring 73 on Saturday. He finished three strokes ahead of a group of three golfers tied for second place at 146 strokes.

 

Neu fired a two-round score of 148 to tie for fifth place. He shot a 75 on Saturday, then carded a 73 Sunday to earn his all-tournament honors.

 

Sean Bledsoe finished in a tie for 14th place with a two-round score of 152 (74-78). Mark Poole tied for 17th place after shooting a 153 (74-79). Lewis Dellinger carded rounds of 80 and 75 for a two-round total of 155 for a tie for 26th place.

 

Lucas Ranard tied with Poole and two other golfers for 17th place after totaling 153 (77-76) strokes in two rounds while playing individually.

 

Wabash competes in the Savannah Invitational in Savannah, Georgia, March 6-7.
