Wabash Rallies From Late Deficit, Beats Rhodes 10-9

The Wabash College baseball team fought back from down 8-4 in the seventh inning to knock off the Rhodes College Lynx 10-9 Sunday.

Braeden Bryant (1-0) got the win out of the bullpen for Wabash (3-0). The right-hander went 2.1 innings, giving up one run on one hit.

The Little Giants were led offensively by Camden Scheidt, who went 3-for-4 on the day with a double, a triple, a walk, and two RBI. Alex Washlock put together a standout performance at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a home run, a walk, and an RBI. AJ Reid also helped out for Wabash, putting together one hit in three trips to the plate while adding a home run and two RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Trailing 3-0, the Little Giants first put runs on the board in the second inning. Washlock put Wabash on the board with a two-out solo home run off Rhodes (4-3) starter Noah Roland.

The Lynx expanded their lead to 4-1 before the Little Giants' offense got back to work, cutting into that lead in the fourth. Washlock scored the lone run of the inning for Wabash on a wild pitch to cut the lead to 4-2 in favor of the Lynx.

Rhodes built their lead to 5-2 before the Wabash offense got back to work, reducing that lead to 5-3 in the fifth. The Little Giants scored once on an RBI single off the bat of Liam Patton to bring home Scheidt.

The Lynx expanded their lead to 6-3 before the Wabash offense got back in gear, cutting into that lead in the seventh. Scheidt crossed home plate thanks to an error by the Lynx to score the lone run of the inning for the Little Giants, tightening the Rhodes lead to 6-4.

Rhodes pushed their lead to 8-4 before the Little Giants' offense got in action, getting in front of the Lynx to grab a 10-8 advantage in the eighth. Wabash hit two home runs in the inning while pushing six runs across. AJ Reid blasted his first of the season with a two-run shot after Scheidt had driven home a pair of runs with a double. Kamden Earley added another two-run shot after a single by Patton to cap the six-run inning.

Rhodes put one run on the scoreboard before Bryant closed the game for the 10-9 win.
