Boone County recognized as State finalist at awards ceremony for American Council of Engineering Companies
The American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) has recognized Boone County as a state finalist for their coveted engineering awards.
The awards highlight exemplary engineering projects and accomplishments across Indiana.
County Commissioners’ Tom Santelli, Jeff Wolfe, Donnie Lawson, along with Nick Parr and Craig Parks with the Boone County Highway Department were recognized for their work on Boone County Bridge 202 – also known as the Sycamore Street bridge.
The work was completed in conjunction with USI Consultants, Inc.
Boone County Bridge 202, owned by Boone County under the purview of the Commissioners, included a complete superstructure replacement consisting of a 5 span, and continuous steel beam superstructure conversion to semi-integral end bents.
The design maintained the existing substructure (a significant cost savings) and incorporated aesthetic elements for a safe and charming gateway to downtown Zionsville.
The reconstruction and completion time was moved up one full year thanks in part to the work of the Commissioners and Highway Department.
The team also worked closely with Zionsville’s Director of Public Works Lance Lantz – adding upgraded lighting and designing the package with a federal match.
