On June 9, 2025, Senator Young expressed his approval of the Trump administration’s efforts to bolster the U.S. drone industry. He stated, “I commend the Trump administration for taking this action to support American-made drones, enable our drone industry to better compete with China, and ultimately help the U.S. lead the world in this sector.”
Later that day, Senator Young addressed the issue of legacy admissions in educational institutions. He remarked, “One day, I hope they will also get serious about merit and stop giving legacy admissions preferences to children of the rich and powerful.”
In another tweet posted at the same time, he commented on financial practices within higher education. Senator Young noted a positive shift among elite colleges and universities towards using more endowment funds for significant causes such as student aid and research. He described it as “a positive development from our most selective colleges and universities to commit to spending more endowment dollars on important causes, including student financial aid and research.”
